6 Ups & 4 Downs From WWE NXT UK (18 March)
2. Remember The Name
Nathan Frazer, the recently rechristened Ben Carter, had a stellar match with Ashton Smith to kick off last night's NXT UK, handily defeating Smith via a well-executed frog splash. After Jordan Devlin and Santos Escobar end their bickering, Nathan could very easily become the next NXT Cruiserweight Champion.
A pre-taped spot before the match saw Frazer explain his reasoning for the name change, stating that Ben Carter got him the attention that he so craved to make it to WWE, but Nathan Frazer will be the guy that's remembered for decades. Simple as that, yet so effective. If he keeps up this level of performance for all those decades, then he may not be too wrong about that, as he was superb against Ashton.
A springboard Coast-to-Coast, a springboard moonsault into a Final Cut, backflipping out of a German suplex, and a perfect frog splash all in one match? Bloody hell Nathan, save something for the future.
Ashton was also great in his role here as the veteran, using various rest holds to keep the former Carter grounded. His stiff lariat was easily his main highlight here; why he doesn't use that as his regular finish is a mystery.
