6 Ups & 4 Downs From WWE Raw (29 Aug)
3. Not Horrible, But Bad Horror
Probably the best way to describe Dexter Lumis and his gimmick is that it’s not everyone’s cup of tea. If you enjoy the weird stalker deal, then good for you.
But it’s just a strange way to try to highlight a guy, and involving Miz as a kidnapping victim who’s been traumatized by Lumis isn’t the way to suddenly make fans care more about him. Dexter hauled Miz off last week on Raw, was arrested on NXT, and was released because Miz apparently refused to talk about it, despite being so affected that he was in full PTSD mode Monday night.
Miz lost his match against Bobby Lashley because he saw Lumis in the crowd, and then when he finally calmed down and went to drive away from the arena, Dexter appeared in the backseat. Creepy!
Actually, no, just a bad horror movie cliché that left you rolling your eyes. However, the Lumis stuff is nearly in that “so corny and bad that it’s good” territory. It’s groan-inducing at times, but it’s also intriguing.
