6 Ups & 4 Downs From WWE Raw (31 July - Review)

Ups…

6. Maxxine Triumphs Again

Maxine Dupri

If you’re in on the joke, you’re willing to give the Maxxine Dupri storyline a bit more leeway than you ordinarily might.

Dupri is nowhere near main roster ready when it comes to having singles matches. She had her first such bout Monday against Valhalla, picking up the win with of all moves a Japanese Ocean Cyclone suplex (of sorts). The action wasn’t great, but it wasn’t as bad as some of the NXT matches promoted during the past couple of years.

And besides, the gag is that Maxxine just started training with Alpha Academy in the past couple months and is learning as she goes. That gives her a bit of breathing room to fumble around a bit and struggle to pick up the basics. She didn’t look entirely lost out there, and what’s more, the fans have been behind it.
