1. Sol’s Got The Yips

At this stage, WWE has got to believe that there’s something about the bright lights that is affecting Sol Ruca when she’s out there on Raw wrestling. Her matches have had flashes of greatness, but she also is botching stuff that really shouldn’t be tolerated on a national broadcast.

Ruca defended her Women’s Intercontinental Championship against Lyra Valkyria in a match in which Lyra tried repeatedly to guide the champ through the sequences, visibly calling spots and having to cover for a series of botches and miscues. Sol messed up a corner spot early on, then they struggled with a spot where Valkyria tossed Ruca over the top rope. Some other spots looked a bit dodgy as well, with Lyra trying to hold stuff together.

There was a nice sequence down the stretch where Lyra went for a tornado DDT, only for Sol to land in a handstand to block. She then went for an X-Factor, but Valkyria blocked with a handstand of her own and followed up with a dropkick. They fought over their finishers and pin attempts, only for Lyra to end up in position for a Sol Snatcher.

The final third of the match somewhat saved this, but WWE has got to be watching this and hoping Ruca can work this out of her system. Fans are clearly behind her, and the company likely believes it’s better to give her the opportunity to succeed rather than throwing in the towel and throttling back on the push.

But if every match is going to be littered with a handful of spots where you can see the wires, it’s going to get old really fast, no matter how flashy other parts of the matches are.
