6 Ups & 4 Downs From WWE Raw (Results & Review - 9 Oct)

3. Who’s DIY?

Johnny Gargano
WWE

That is a pretty daft question to ask anyone who has followed WWE – and especially NXT – for a period of time. But it’s an important one to pose.

There are plenty of WWE fans who don’t regularly watch NXT, and even more who didn’t watch the black & gold brand when Tommaso Ciampa and Johnny Gargano were at the height of their popularity as DIY seven years ago.

The duo reunited on Raw last week and had a sit-down interview cut very short Monday night by an attacking Imperium, injuring both men. Asking fans to care about these two as a popular and once-dominant tag team requires a bit of work. It wouldn’t take much, but as has happened a few times recently, it felt like WWE left a step out of the storytelling process, like they skipped a week.

WWE is so great at their video packages, so why not show a video talking about Gargano and Ciampa together? There’s such a rich history there, and one package would have done the trick of showing viewers who they are and why they should rally behind them.

Even for fans who know exactly who they are, that refresher would serve to just fire them up even more about a DIY reunion.
