6 Ups & 4 Downs From WWE Raw (Sept 19)

2. Owens Continues To Torment Theory

The goal here has to be to frustrate Austin Theory to the point where he makes a mistake and puts his Money in the Bank briefcase on the line, right?

Kevin Owens toppled Theory once again in singles action, overcoming a pre-match assault and bettering the briefcase-holder. He got a bit of help from Johnny Gargano, who prevented Austin from using the briefcase, which provided a distraction that gave KO an opportunity to flatten him with a superkick, cannonball and pop-up powerbomb to win.

It’s pretty clear by now that Owens is a featured player on Raw and not just having lip service paid to him. This is great news for his fans, and it will be fun to see if he somehow ends up with the MITB briefcase.

Meanwhile, Theory’s descent could be seen as a burial, but there’s still enough there that makes you believe it’s a realignment more than anything, so we’ll have to see there.
