6 Ups & 4 Downs From WWE SmackDown (Dec 18)

4. The ’Sami Awards’

R-Truth will host the dreadfully tedious 'Slammy Awards' next week (on 'The Bump', not Raw or SmackDown), but Sami Zayn beat him to the punch by presenting the 'Sami Awards' on Friday night. He even combed his hair, fluffed his beard and pulled on some classy duds for the occasion.

The whole segment was a riot from start to finish.

Sami gifting himself awards for 'Comeback Of The Year' and 'Match Of The Year' was fun enough fare before Big E poked his nose in to establish an imminent IC Title bout. That's the right call - Daniel Bryan can wait, because E sorely needs something meaningful to do beyond interact with others in backstage skits.

These boys have already worked well together, and they're only getting started. If WWE are smart, they'll give E some mic time just like Zayn's to get him over as a massive threat to Sami's gold. Credit to everyone involved for making comedy work.
