6 Ups & 4 Downs From WWE SmackDown (Mar 4)

3. All That For…That?!

Being honest, Drew's match with Jinder wasn't exactly thrill-a-minute either.

Happy Corbin and Madcap Moss chewed up a sizeable chunk of airtime in goofy backstage segments, then McIntyre motored past old buddy Mahal in a short squash. At least Drew's interactive post-match promo got the live crowd onboard, but it's hard to get up for his 'Mania journey when it's against a foe so secondary.

Worse, after booking several backstage skits involving the 'Happy Folks', WWE had McIntyre storm in with his big sword (no jokes) and run them off. The whole exercise, from Corbin/Moss playing darts to Drew squashing Jinder, fell a bit weak and aimless.

It doesn't count as storyline development when nothing new really happens. McIntyre has been hunting down Corbin for months now, and the former 'King' never really comes across as a threat. This is the Earthquake vs. Hercules from 'Mania VI of its generation waiting to happen.
