Damage CTRL felt cooked up until Kairi Sane and Asuka joined the group, breathing new life into the act just in time for Bayley to finally be drummed out of it.

Sunday night, the Role Model capped off a long journey as a heel back to babyface, defeating Iyo Sky to win the WWE Women’s Championship in a solid match that did as much to establish Iyo as a big match player as it did to re-establish Bayley as a hero.

Sky shined in the spotlight in a losing effort with her high-flying, crisp offense getting plenty of attention. At one point, Bayley went for a Rose Plant, but Iyo simply flipped out of it with ease. Moments later though, Bayley would drop an elbow and put Sky down with the Rose Plant for the title.

It will be interesting to see how Bayley is booked going forward. The last time she was a babyface, she was the naïve, wide-eyed girl and was largely mismanaged once she was up on the main roster. Triple H can’t turn her back into the NXT version of herself, so this should chart new territory.
