6 Ups & 4 Downs From WWE WrestleMania 40 - Night 2 (Results & Review)

5. A Hot Opener

WWE WrestleMania XL Seth Rollins Drew McIntyre
WWE

Clocking in at just north of ten minutes, the opening match between Seth Rollins and Drew McIntyre was good, unfussy fun.

The Scottish Warrior set the tone at the opening bell, nailing a Claymore for a close two-count, and the two continued to wail on each other with the heavy artillery. There was no lengthy submission hold or methodical beatdown, as Rollins employed a Pedigree and a series of stomps to stay in the match, while Drew used the Futureshock DDT and Claymore to keep Seth down.

Fans never had a chance to really settle in and relax with a series of two-counts that felt plausible enough for the finish right up until McIntyre nailed two consecutive Claymores to finally win a World Title at WrestleMania with fans in the building.

As WrestleMania moments go, this was a solid and meaningful one when you remember the real-life backstory for Drew.
