6 Ups & 4 Downs From WWE WrestleMania Backlash

3. Carefully Constructed Chaos

Once again, a horrific buildup to a Raw triple threat title match resulted in a solid PPV encounter. This time, it was Drew McIntyre, Bobby Lashley and Braun Strowman who delivered a decent match at WrestleMania Backlash.

The triple threat for the WWE Championship was an entertaining car crash of a match, with all three men pulling out some really great moves (McIntyre hitting a Michinoku Driver on Strowman was an eye-popper), and some smoke & mirrors, with Drew throwing Lashley through the LED board and Braun powerbombing Drew throw a table.

The match wasn’t expected to be anything other than a big hoss fight, with three heavyweights throwing bombs at each other, and that’s exactly what we got. The fact that there were some surprising moments along the way only made it better.

In the end, we knew Lashley needed to retain the title, and that Braun was going to eat the pinfall (so we can get a Mania rematch between McIntyre and the All Mighty Champion at Hell in a Cell next month). That doesn’t make it great, but it also doesn’t condemn it.
