6 Ups & 5 Downs From Last Night's WWE Raw (Nov 27)

5. Swann Takes The Spotlight

While it'd be an exaggeration to call the Cruiserweight division resurgent, the scene has enjoyed a bigger spotlight since Enzo Amore's giant personal entered the picture. We usually get at least one well-positioned segment or match every week, and last night focused on in-ring action, with Rich Swann, Noam Dar, Akira Tozawa, and Ariya Daivari competing in a contender's qualification bout.

It was a fun four-way. Such formats don't always lend themselves to sharp action, particularly in WWE, but each competitor worked their backside off to make it work. The end product was a fast, fluid bout between two of the most athletic wrestlers in the company (Swann and Tozawa), and a couple of dastardly heels in Dar and Daivari, whose heat sections slowed things down whenever the faces gathered momentum.

Swann took the victory, and will now move into a number one contender's bout. The fact that he actually possesses a palpable personality makes him better suited to the Cruiserweight Title spotlight than the listless Kalisto, so let's hope he triumphs, regardless of who he faces.
