6 Ups & 5 Downs From WWE Raw (10 June - Results & Review)

Downs...

5. Hello, Crowd? 2001 Called…

WWE Raw Judgment Day Drew McIntyre Damian Priest

Here’s a scary stat: The obnoxious “What?” chants that so-called fans insist on doing have been around for 23 years. That’s nearly a quarter century, longer than Roxanne Perez has been alive.

Fans overshadowed Piper Niven’s excellent promo on SmackDown last week, and they dragged down an admittedly subpar promo from Damian Priest to open Raw Monday night. The constant interjections don’t add anything to the product, and they certainly don’t convey fan investment or interest in what’s happening in the ring.

It’s one thing to boo a dull match or horrendous promo. It’s another thing to use one of the most outdated, obnoxious chants in wrestling history mindlessly because you just want to emulate other brainless crowds.
