3. Is Bayley Back?

Up until a couple of weeks ago, there was a very uncomfortable – yet reasonable – conversation to have about whether Bayley was washed. Her performances in the ring had become spotty at best and downright disappointing on average.

But ever since she challenged Lyra Valkyria for the Women’s Intercontinental Championship, Bayley has been on a bit of a roll in the ring. She had a really good showing during the tag team gauntlet match on SmackDown, and then she battled Liv Morgan on Raw on Monday night.

Morgan herself has been delivering in her matches for a while now, so this pairing was more likely to produce positive results than not. And that’s exactly what fans got from both women – a solid, hard-hitting match that saw a surprising number of high-impact offense on the floor (including a Three Amigos) and featured a finish that might have surprised some.

Raquel Rodriguez got involved toward the end by putting Liv’s foot on the ropes (barely) after a Bayley-to-Belly, which triggered a fight on the floor. Raquel got on the apron and continued to try to interfere, so when Morgan went for Oblivion on Bayley, Lyra seemed justified in putting her finger on the scale, holding Bayley up and preventing Liv from hitting her finisher. One jackknife cover later, and Bayley’s perfect record against Morgan remained intact.

Yes, there’s that unspoken rule about virtuous babyfaces not cheating, but when the heels do it first, is it really a crime? This also could factor into their WrestleMania 41 tag title match this weekend. Even if it doesn’t, the bottom line is that Bayley has now strung together a few good matches in a row, and the tag challengers have a psychological edge heading into 'Mania.
