6 Ups & 5 Downs From WWE Raw (14 April - Results & Review)

5. The Mysterio Formula Strikes Again

WWE Raw Rey Mysterio Julius Creed
WWE

Rey Mysterio has been at this game for so long that it should not be surprising when he pulls off a fun and sometimes jaw-dropping match against someone twice his size. And yet, here fans are with their mouths on the floor once again.

Mysterio battled Julius Creed in a match that meant nothing on paper but served to exist as a showcase for both and a platform for Rey’s WrestleMania 41 opponent. That didn’t stop Mysterio and Creed from stringing together a series of impressive sequences in another “little Rey” versus a big man match.

Julius’ catch of a baseball slide and turning it into a standing and walking vertical suplex was impressive enough, but the dueling moonsaults that ended with Creed catching Rey, going for a powerslam, and getting spiked with a DDT was the tops.

All of this was in service of El Grande Americano making his *ahem* grand entrance to try to help Julius. Your mileage may vary on the Chad Gable: American Luchador angle, but as undercard feuds go, this isn’t bad and should produce an excellent match this weekend.
