For the last couple of weeks, Cody Rhodes has been simmering, threatening to boil over when he finally confronted John Cena. Monday, he got his chance, but he managed to keep his emotions mostly in check.

Cody started off by noting that he, along with the fans, wanted to hear what Cena had to say before reacting, but when John started to reply with, “Listen, kid…” Rhodes lost it and launched into a tirade at Cena.

The most damning part of his promo wasn’t Cody raging at Cena for attacking him, but rather expressing how disappointed he was to be headed into WrestleMania 41and facing this version of the 16-time world champion. Rhodes made it clear that in his view, aligning with The Rock meant that Cena had dramatically downgraded himself, and Cody was going to run over this version if he showed up in Las Vegas.

Rhodes put the exclamation point on everything when he told his challenger to “go find John Cena, because I want to wrestle him at WrestleMania, not this whiny b**ch.”

Succinct, powerful, and near-perfect. This was exactly what it needed to be, especially after Cena’s lengthy promo.
