6 Ups & 5 Downs From WWE Raw (22 April - Results & Review)

1. You Cannot Be Serious

DIY Awesome Truth
WWE

Everything seemed so simple: Give R-Truth his big WrestleMania moment winning the Raw tag titles in a ladder match so the Awesome Truth comedy act doesn’t have to pin one of the more established tag teams.

Then, let them get another moment when the tag titles are rechristened the World Tag Team Championship. Then have them gracefully lose the straps, giving #DIY their moment to shine and an opportunity to capitalize on their good work getting over as a team in recent weeks.

Naturally, this meant that Awesome Truth retained in a sluggish, uninspired match that survived only on the live audience’s love for Truth. Johnny Gargano and Tomasso Ciampa seemed to be throttling it down a couple of notches to compete at Miz and Truth’s speed, making it dull and skippable.

Just to make it “interesting,” there was a tease of tension, as Ciampa refused to shake the champs’ hands afterward. So, DIY falls short in another tag title match, and now presumably they either turn heel together or break up? If it goes either route, that seems a bit too soon.

Bad match, bad decision.
