6 Ups & 5 Downs From WWE Raw (April 18)

2. Rushed, Disappointing Finish

From the “Who booked this crap?” department, we have Raw’s main event Monday night.

Who thought it was a good idea to have Cody Rhodes’ third match back in WWE end in a count-out? Especially after everything was built up beforehand that Seth Rollins said Cody would fail at exactly the same thing Seth did – facing a mystery opponent.

In this case, Rollins chose best friend Kevin Owens to face Rhodes, and the two had a pretty good match. But toward the end, Owens was struggling to get back into the ring, and Rollins badmouthed him, telling KO to get his fat a** back in the ring. This led to Owens walking out, taking a count-out loss.

Just like that, Cody picked up a disappointing win (he at least showed his frustration) in his third week back with the company, then was shoved off the top rope by Rollins to close Raw.

It flew together in the waning moments and fell flat, the first misfire in Cody’s return tour. While not a death blow by any means, it still was a strange booking decision.
