There’s every bit of a chance that it’s too late to truly salvage Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa as stars on the main roster after bad booking enveloped their initial runs on Raw. But their recent string of appearances have helped at least remind fans of what they do best.

#DIY came up short in their tag title match against Judgment Day on Raw, but they won over the fans once again with little more than a pretty good wrestling match that utilized some of everyone’s favorite tag match tropes to fire up the crowd. They actually came a hair’s breadth away from winning a couple times, including stereo submission holds that saw Damian Priest lift Ciampa up and drop him on Gargano to break it up.

While the ending wasn’t a surprise – Judgment Day very likely aren’t dropping the titles until WrestleMania – it was entertaining enough to see Gargano and Ciampa have the champs on the ropes. The real question here is what WWE will do with #DIY now: Will they let them flounder, or will they actually try to capitalize on fans reacting to their matches and try to run with them a bit?
