6 Ups & 5 Downs From WWE Raw (Sept. 12)

Downs…

5. Not Everyone’s Cup Of Tea

In case you haven’t noticed, the Dexter Lumis/Miz saga has vacillated between positive and negative in this column throughout its run on Raw.

Quite simply, it’s hard to peg down a feeling about this ongoing story of Lumis silently stalking Miz at every turn like a serial killer. Some weeks, it’s mildly amusing. Other weeks, it’s painfully bad.

Monday night’s stalking involved Dexter trespassing at Miz’s house, and then going inside after Miz and Maryse had left to leave a drawing for him… all caught on WWE cameras while Corey Graves freaked out about Lumis possibly kidnapping Miz’s family.

When this stuff is in the arena, it’s one thing, but when it’s in “the real world,” wrestling rules don’t necessarily apply, so this then feels awkward and icky. And yeah, some fans probably loved it, and that’s fine, but this just didn’t cut it.

Also, what’s the payoff going to be? Lumis doesn’t talk, and he’s not exactly a prolific wrestler, so it’s not like we’re going to get some really passionate speech or a good match at the end of it. It’s just a lot of unblinking staring and general creepiness.
