6 Ups & 6 Downs From AEW Dynamite (Dec 16)

2. A Surefire Banger

Rey Fenix
AEW

Rey Fenix and Kenny Omega wrestled an incandescent banger for the Mega Championship 'The Cleaner' still holds for AAA back in October 2019. Now, finally, they get the chance to go again, wrestling one-on-one for the first time in AEW history at New Year's Smash on 30 December.

Excitement for that match is primarily why Dynamite's show-closing segment features in this lofty spot. Regardless, this whole deal was very well done indeed.

Don Callis got back on the microphone after Omega had thwarted Joey Janela, claiming there were no unanswered questions left for the AEW World Champion, There were. PAC came out with Death Triangle, pointing out, rightly, that Fenix was due a match with 'The Cleaner' after being forced to pull out of the World Title Eliminator tournament. While Callis protested, it turns out Tony Khan agreed with PAC. Fenix vs. Omega is a go.

If Janela gets a shot for being pulled from the tournament without getting beaten, so should Fenix. It was Penta, not Rey, whom Omega punted out, so here we go.
