4. "Entitled To A WWE Title Opportunity"

As Raw went off the air Monday night, announcers Tom Phillips left us with the news that Randy Orton was now “entitled to a WWE title opportunity” by winning the triple threat match.

Umm, what? Who talks like that? Answer: Only pre-programmed robots in Vince McMahon’s WWE.

It’s such a stupid line, just one of several verbal idiosyncrasies you hear on WWE programming. You can’t say “title shot” or “chance at the title.” But to be “entitled” to a title opportunity? That’s just unnecessarily formal language that no one uses. Say that Orton “earned a title match” or “has won a WWE Championship match at Night of Champions.”

But “entitled to a WWE title opportunity… just no. Why hasn’t Orton “earned” his shot? WWE’s stupid internal vocabulary really can take you out of what’s being said. Case in point.
