6 Ups & 7 Downs From WWE Fastlane 2021

2. Sheamus, McIntyre Go To War

Drew McIntyre and Sheamus have faced each other twice before this year, and each of them have been brutal, physical brawls. Sunday’s match was no exception.

The two longtime former friends had a No Holds Barred match at Fastlane, which went all over the ThunderDome, heading into the stands amongst – and through – the video screens. Kendo sticks were abused. Suplexes on the arena floor were dished out. Tables were broken. And a Brogue Kick and Claymore were eaten.

As mentioned before, it’s a real shame there weren’t any stakes attached to this match other than pride, because it would have just added a bit of gravity to the match. It’s also somewhat a shame that Sheamus/McIntyre was a bigger deal, because you get the feeling if this was a WrestleMania world title match, they’d somehow dig deeper and beat the tar out of each other even more.

Still, this was a perfectly enjoyable brawl, and we’ll take it.
