6 Ups & 7 Downs From WWE Raw (April 24 - Review)

5. Tepid Trish

Trish Stratus
WWE

After a promo last week that laid the foundation for her heel turn, Trish Stratus had an opportunity Monday night to build on that.

Instead, she flopped. Cathy Kelley didn’t help by asking the most random question: Why was Becky Lynch not at Raw again? Stratus took the chance to pretend that Becky told her a secret: Lynch was not doing well and not able to deal with the pressure of being The Man, a mom and the face of the division. Trish, however, was thriving as a mom and a Hall-of-Famer, while Becky was cracking and crumbling.

And that was how Stratus followed up her big heel promo last week. It wasn’t even enough to be considered a whimper, as Trish just took a bad question and ran with it in a way that did nothing to follow up, elevate, advance or even supplement the storyline. “Becky Lynch has cracked after one Chick Kick and title loss” is a pretty bold thing to stake your claim on. But if you’re going to, maybe connect it to yourself a bit more to drive yourself as the antagonist.

It felt like this one was thrown together quickly without a lot of thought, because they could have easily saved this promo.
