6 Ups & 7 Downs From WWE Raw (Feb 8)
6. Sacrificing Riddle
If there’s a downside to the burgeoning feud between Bobby Lashley and Keith Lee, it’s that we had to watch WWE completely flush anything they had with Riddle.
Sure, Riddle has the ability and talent to be a top-flight wrestler and serious title contender, but WWE seemed intent on focusing on his “bro” persona more, having him deliver promos like he was concussed right before going recording. It’s all about “getting toasted,” watching Air Bud movies and eating food. Turning Riddle into a one-dimensional character won’t help his prospects, nor will it lead to fans rallying behind him if he’s in peril.
Yes, Riddle still has his problems, but cutting him at the knees like this while treating him like a goof doesn’t help – it only damages WWE’s property. And yet, they decided to include him in the PPV title match, after having him get manhandled by Lashley and lose to Lee.
