Determined to show Jordan Devlin precisely why he is the REAL NXT Cruiserweight Champion, Santos Escobar issued an open challenge on this week's black and gold show. In something of an unexpected twist, Tyler Breeze was the challenger who returned to singles action and was met with a series of stomps in the corner for his troubles.

Ensuring the numbers game that Legado del Fantasma have utilised so well didn't get the better of him, a wily Breeze eventually took out Raul Mendoza and Joaquin Wilde on the outside before catching their leader with an enziguri mid-flight. The 'Emperor of Lucha Libre' would then regain control with his usual variety of methodical submissions and explosive power moves - a surfboard submission and gutbuster on this occasion - but Breeze would again fire back with a spinebuster/Sharpshooter combo - sporting the black and pink tights no less.

This late resurgence sadly wasn't enough to get the job done for 'Prince Pretty', though, as a dodged Unprettier soon transitioned into a Phantom Driver for the Escobar victory.

Taking the time to kill two TakeOver: Stand and Deliver birds with one stone, MSK soon arrived post-match to scare Legado off before they could make an example out of Breeze, with the Grizzled Young Veterans then beaming into the CWC to remind the two units they are laser focused on becoming the new NXT Tag Team Champions.

Both TakeOver matches will no doubt be certified bangers. Having Escobar pull off a clean victory over a respected name like Breeze was a good call coming into such an important match in his tenure as Champ, even if - through no fault of their own - the build to the triple threat tag team title encounter has been rather thin, to put it mildly.
