6 Ups And 2 Downs From Last Night's WWE NXT (Feb 3rd)

1. Asuka Needs Better Competition

I'll hold my hands up and say I'd never heard of Asuka when she showed up in the crowd at NXT Takeover: Brooklyn. When I got home, I went to YouTube and searched for 'Kana' (her pre-WWE name) and was blown away by her offence and style. It was a breath of fresh air and I looked forward to seeing her perform in NXT. On this week's show, she faced off against Santana Garrett. Truth be told, the match itself was fine, but that's kinda the problem with Asuka matches: for the most part they're 'just fine'. She is an amazing wrestler but the issue is that rarely has she been able to let go and just go all-out and tear it up with someone in the ring. The best we got was at Takeover: London, where she had a fantastic match with Emma (still an under-rated part of that card). With there only being one of the Four Horsewomen of NXT left in Bayley, we need Asuka to be in a long-term program with the NXT Women's Champion. Bayley is arguably the only woman currently at Full Sail who could give Asuka the chance to show off her full arsenal and have a classic match that's up there with Bayley/Sasha, Natalya/Charlotte and other memorable encounters from the women of NXT. So far, Asuka has proven how great she is by, miraculously, getting a good match out of Dana Brooke. Now is the time, people - we need to see Asuka vs. Bayley.
