6 Ups And 2 Downs From Last Night's WWE NXT (Feb 3rd)
2. Storyline Continuity Is The Best
You know when you watch RAW and there are continuity errors or glaring holes in the plot? Annoying, isn't it? Luckily, that doesn't happen in NXT. Take, for example, this week's main event - Apollo Crews against NXT Champion Finn Balor in a non-title match. On the October 22nd, 2015 episode of NXT, Crews got a title shot against Balor and during the match was attacked by Baron Corbin, costing him his title shot. Apollo ended up embroiled in a feud with The Lone Wolf, but once that was finished, Crews rightly wanted another match with Balor. With this being the land of continuity, he knew he wasn't in line for a title shot so Crews said he just wanted a match, with the aim to beat Balor and earn a future title match so he could once again try to become NXT Champion. Take a moment to soak in how simple and pleasing that is as a concept. The man lost in his title match, but challenges the Champion to a non-title match, just to get back in the hunt. Novel, right?
