6 Ups And 2 Downs From Last Night's WWE NXT (Feb 3rd)

3. William Regal Is A Great GM

Maybe it's my eternal love for the old school President Jack Tunney or my utter disdain for The Authority as characters, but watching this week's NXT, it struck me just how fantastic William Regal is as the General Manager. After reviewing the tape of the finish to last week's Triple Threat no.1 contenders match, he's about to make an announcement of a rematch when Baron Corbin storms into his office and Regal puts him in his place by telling The Lone Wolf that the only thing that was for certain is that he lost. Corbin storms out and Regal continues, announcing that Sami Zayn will face Samoa Joe for the right to face the NXT Champion for the title. This might sound like faint praise, but the way Regal handles this and other matters relating to the NXT Title, make that belt feel more important than the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. Like any human, Regal has had his run-ins with wrestlers (like Kevin Owens) but he always makes the fair and just decisions pertaining to the NXT Title which, in turn, makes the show feel more legit because of it. Long may Regal reign.
