6 Ups And 3 Downs From Last Night's NXT (June 3)

4. Wake Me Up! (Wake Me Up In Your House)

There's been a lot of positives that emerged from this bizarre era of professional wrestling, but the situation surrounding the NXT Championship has not been one of them. The bizarre booking of Dream returning to feud with Roderick Strong, then randomly changing his mind with the 'A-HA I WANTED COLE ALL ALONG!' twist, the underwhelming match we got as a result, it's not been great.

There wasn't much interest in seeing these two go again, but the build this time has at least felt worthy of the stature of the belt. This is about Dream being a prodigy on this brand, about nobody really knowing what he's capable of, and a Champion whose ultimate weakness might be his own over-confidence.

It's also, about Roderick Strong.

From him being a forgotten man in his own feud, to Cole walking in front of the screen to gas himself up at the exact moment his stablemate's name appeared, even to the camera choosing to lose focus on him right as our champion gave himself a round of applause. This is one of subtlest builds to a faction implosion I have ever seen. Regardless of when it comes.
