6 Ups And 3 Downs From WWE Survivor Series WarGames
1. Sami Sells His Soul
If you haven’t come around to the Sami Zayn/Bloodline story by now, you’re pretty much hopeless as a wrestling fan.
Zayn’s trials and tribulations as he’s ingratiated himself into Roman Reigns’ good graces has been tremendous long-term storytelling from a company that for the longest time has failed to be consistent from week to week, much less over the course of months.
Everything came to a head Saturday night, with Zayn’s longtime best friend Kevin Owens on the other team. The crescendo hit when Owens laid Reigns out with a Pop-Up Powerbomb and Stunner, seemingly with the match won, only for Sami to stop the referee’s count. He then would have a staredown with KO… and finally deliver a low blow to put Owens down.
A Helluva kick after Roman’s acknowledgment was icing on the cake. And then Zayn offered Owens up to Jey Uso as a sacrifice for the splash and pin. It was just wonderful stuff, with Reigns – and then Jey – hugging Sami to welcome him fully into the group, not just as an Honorary Uce.
Fantastic stuff. Let’s hope wherever the story goes next, it’s just as compelling.
