One of the best feel-good stories of 2016 had to be Heath Slater, a career jobber who jobbed to jobbers, teaming up with Rhyno and becoming the inaugural SmackDown Tag Team Champions.

Fast-forward one year, and Slater and Rhyno are the “already in the ring” opponents getting run over by Sheamus & Cesaro. And while that’s not to say that the former blue brand champs should have won, it’s a sad state to see the two flame out so tremendously. On SmackDown, they were former champs and capable of competing with the other teams. On Raw, they’re cannon fodder.

Maybe that’s for the best for them – they had their moment in the sun, but now it’s time to put over the more established wrestlers. But that doesn’t mean we can’t lament it a little.
