It’s funny to think that WWE basically controls a vast majority of American wrestling history. WCW, AWA, WCCW, and so on… many of the major promotions out there are under WWE’s umbrella. So there’s really no excuse to ignore history, even when it’s not WWE’s own.

That’s why it was nice – and simultaneously amusing – to hear Booker T quickly and casually name-drop Erik Watts as an example of nepotism when railing against Jason Jordan. Jordan is the storyline son of storyline Raw GM Kurt Angle. Booker has consistently alleged that Jordan receives favorable treatment because of his father.

But in the case of Erik Watts, he actually was the real-life embodiment of that storyline, getting pushed well above his level because his father, Cowboy Bill Watts, was running the show for WCW at the time. It was such an easy reference for older fans, plus if you’re curious about him, you could search him out on WWE’s YouTube page and see some of his greatest “hits.”

Scott is a former journalist and longtime wrestling fan who was smart enough to abandon WCW during the Monday Night Wars the same time as the Radicalz. He fortunately became a fan in time for WrestleMania III and came back as a fan after a long high school hiatus before WM XIV. Monday nights in the Carlson household are reserved for viewing Raw -- for better or worse.
