On paper, Matt Riddle versus Gunther should have been a hard-hitting epic, with both men tearing into each other and the challenger pushing the Intercontinental Champion to his limit.

But an ankle injury to Riddle in the lead-up to Money in the Bank allowed Gunter to make short work of the Original Bro. The two exchanged chops and kicks, but every time Riddle got an upper hand, Gunter would just target the ankle to take over. He very quickly put Riddle away with a heel hook submission, just as the match seemed like it would be hitting another gear.

Maybe this is setting up a rematch between the two when Riddle is healthy, but given the shock return of Drew McIntyre with his sights set on Gunther, it’s possible this is it for now. Still, it was a pretty decent little match for what we got.
