6 Ups And 4 Downs From WWE WrestleMania 37 - Night 1

4. Navel-Gazing Award
It’s bad enough that WWE insists on having an award named after the Ultimate Warrior that is supposed to be presented to inspiring people who make a difference in their community, when there’s no evidence that Warrior was anything like that during his lifetime.
But then to turn around after a year in which there have been countless local heroes who have persevered during a global pandemic and an economic recession, and give this award to a company man in Titus O’Neil? Come on.
This isn’t to say that Titus isn’t a good guy – quite the opposite. But WWE created this award ostensibly to honor others outside the company for their contributions. And then they gave it to a guy on the payroll for “putting smiles on faces” in his role with the company.
WWE couldn’t have found someone who runs a clinic or has provided care to COVID patients or runs a soup kitchen? No disrespect to Titus, but there are so many deserving people out there, and this just made an already questionable award feel cheaper.
