6 Ups And 5 Downs From Last Night's WWE Raw (Aug 14)

2. Demon Rising

When GM Kurt Angle moved up the match between Bray Wyatt and Finn Balor to Monday night, it felt like this wasn’t the match, but setting up something bigger.

Surely, the match on Raw, a first-time ever meeting, would end in some screwy finish to set up a “rematch” at SummerSlam. But that’s not what happened.

Instead, Wyatt won the match fairly cleanly, cutting off Finn’s attempt at a Coup de Grass and hitting Sister Abigail for the duke. After Bray doused him in a red liquid, Balor went to Kurt Angle and demanded a rematch, declaring that he had his demons too, establishing what was coming.

And it makes sense: The Demon character – which hasn’t been seen in a year – has been described as Balor tapping into a deep, dark part of his persona. After losing to Wyatt, Balor enlisting the Demon to help him topple the Eater of Worlds was a logical and linear move. And it should make for a memorable entrance on Sunday.
