While the “Braun Strowman needs to find inner peace” skit earlier was a little too silly for our taste, it actually does tie nicely with the development later on involving Kevin Owens.

KO approached Stephanie McMahon (with Baron Corbin in tow) as she was leaving, and the two groveled and grumbled about how Braun nearly ruined his career. Owens said he wanted to take everything away from Strowman, and that meant taking the Money in the Bank briefcase away. But KO went a step further in suggesting that he should get it no matter how he defeats Braun.

That leaves open options for a count-out, DQ or other nefarious victory for Owens. Considering how he won the steel cage match by being thrown off the cage by Braun, anything can happen. And those with long memories will remember that Christian won a World Heavyweight Championship by goading Randy Orton into getting DQ’d, so there’s precedent here.

This adds a dimension not present in previous Strowman matches, as now Braun will have to play by the rules, or else he’ll lose his briefcase. Touché indeed.
