6 Ups And 5 Downs From Last Night's WWE Raw (June 19)

DOWNS…

5. Roman Heels It Up

From the moment he strutted onto the entrance ramp and did a slow swagger to the ring, Roman Reigns was treading with heeldom on Monday night.

At least, that’s what his words and body language said. Of course, WWE probably just thinks that he’s being “cool” or something like that. But Roman’s attitude and his promo – bragging about how no one can beat him one-on-one and then naming a bunch of people who have cleanly beat him one-on-one – was reminiscent of an egotistical heel.

Despite losing five of his last seven PPV matches, Reigns declared himself the #1 contender for the Universal Championship at SummerSlam – again, the kind of egotistical claim a heel would make.

Now, we’re giving this a mild “down” because even though you would think that WWE has to be self-aware enough to realize that they sent Roman out there to show some heelish qualities, you just can’t trust them. Maybe he’s not turning full villain, but he’s no squeaky-clean babyface either… or so you would think.
