6 Ups And 5 Downs From Last Night's WWE Raw (Nov 19)

2. Rousey Blows Past Boos

An attempt to garner sympathy at Survivor Series went awry for Ronda Rousey, but fortunately, the writers figured out how to get past it on Raw.

Rousey was beaten from pillar to post by Charlotte Flair, who drew a DQ by using a kendo stick, then proceeded to wear two of them out on Ronda’s back and arm. Flair then used a steel chair to continue the assault, one of the worst in the women’s division that we’ve seen in quite a while. However, the fans turned on Rousey looking around afterward, booing her and giving no quarter.

Rather than lean into it or try to address it on Monday, Rousey came right out, talked about her upcoming title fight with Nia Jax, promised to get revenge on Charlotte, and then talked about how a true champion competes even when s/he isn’t at 100%. She then issued an open challenge, which acting GM Baron Corbin tried to talk her out of.

Mickie James answered the call, but she quickly was overcome and tapped to an armbar, allowing Ronda to prove that she was tough and no longer looking for sympathy from fans, and it worked in the same building where she was booed 24 hours prior.

Scott is a former journalist and longtime wrestling fan who was smart enough to abandon WCW during the Monday Night Wars the same time as the Radicalz. He fortunately became a fan in time for WrestleMania III and came back as a fan after a long high school hiatus before WM XIV. Monday nights in the Carlson household are reserved for viewing Raw -- for better or worse.
