6 Ups And 5 Downs From Last Night's WWE Raw (Nov 19)

3. Steph Reneges, Ducks Responsibility

One thing that got overlooked Monday night was supposed model for leadership and paragon of virtue Stephanie McMahon ducking responsibility and going back on promises she had made.

The Raw commissioner promised the moon to Braun Strowman in exchange for him joining Team Raw at Survivor Series and leading them to victory. Braun pinned four SmackDown superstars, upholding his end, so it was time for Stephanie to deliver Monday: Braun wanted Baron Corbin, he wanted to pick the stipulation, and he wanted a Universal Championship match against Brock Lesnar.

Stephanie granted the Corbin match… in four weeks. She then said she’d have to have the lawyers work on the “dismemberment” part of Braun’s hold harmless deal. And then McMahon pushed Braun’s Universal Championship match off until Royal Rumble in January – if he can beat Corbin.

That wasn’t what she promised. And then she went back on a promise to Corbin to re-evaluate his job standing, instead making it conditional on winning a match, which has nothing to do with being a GM.

Look, the stips for the TLC match between Strowman and Corbin are fine and add some heft to their match (see more on this later), but Steph deserves a “down” for being heralded as a mastermind who then reneges on promises and hides from her duties.
