6 Ups And 5 Downs From Last Night's WWE Raw (Nov 19)

2. #Facebreaker

This got a mention in the Survivor Series column, but it bears a quick note here as Michael Cole continued to try to get “#Facebreaker” over on Raw.

You almost have to feel for women like the Riott Squad, who are trying to get over by following the WWE prescribed methods of mischief, like squirting ketchup on a locker room door and breaking a pair of sunglasses. And then Nia Jax carelessly legit breaks Becky Lynch’s nose, and she’s getting pushed as a dominant heel who injures people.

It’s a ridiculous proposition, with Jax having injured several other women to varying degrees, and she’s getting another shot, with WWE trying to cash in on her latest “oops” moment.

It doesn’t help that Monday’s match pitting Nia Jax and Tamina against Sasha Banks and Bayley was a paint-by-numbers match. It wasn’t offensive, but it wasn’t memorable in any way. A half-hour after it ended, this writer almost forgot it had happened. That’s not a good sign.

Scott is a former journalist and longtime wrestling fan who was smart enough to abandon WCW during the Monday Night Wars the same time as the Radicalz. He fortunately became a fan in time for WrestleMania III and came back as a fan after a long high school hiatus before WM XIV. Monday nights in the Carlson household are reserved for viewing Raw -- for better or worse.
