There is no denying Logan Paul’s pure, raw talent in the ring. Just a handful of matches into his WWE career, he’s shown an aptitude that many who have been wrestling for years haven’t grasped. Throw in his social media presence and natural charisma and he’s got all the raw tools.

So, it wasn’t a shock to see Paul defeat Rey Mysterio to capture the United States Championship. Paul winning the title gives him a trophy to parade around at all his non-WWE engagements, and it puts a target on his back for a litany of superstars to come after him. Logan using the brass knuckles also worked in that he hung with Rey for the entire match, but he couldn’t overcome the Hall of Famer’s experience. The knucks were the difference-maker, and he only needed that to get over the top.

Mysterio didn’t need the championship any longer, and the way in which he lost lends more sympathy to the luchador.

And then there’s the question of Santos Escobar, who stopped one of Logan’s buddies from retrieving the knucks, but then placed them on the apron to allow Paul to grab and use them. Was that just a dumb mistake, or was it intentional? That’s an issue that can be explored going forward.
