There are going to be plenty of people who were entertained by the Women’s World Championship five-way match, but it can’t be classified as anything more than a spotfest to give five women opportunities to shine.

Rhea Ripley successfully defended her title with an impressive finish, hitting an avalanche Riptide with Zoey Stark onto Raquel Rodriguez and Shayna Baszler, effectively neutralizing the entire field in one fell swoop (Nia Jax already had been taken out).

Most of the match was your typical WWE multi-person match, with several of the wrestlers rolling out of the ring for extended periods as different groupings battled inside, with others jumping in to break up pinfall attempts or to hit counters.

There wasn’t anything wrong with the match, but if you were looking for a cohesive, intricate story being told, you were disappointed. The four women didn’t even do a beatdown of Nia Jax as payback for her attacking all of them since her return, which one would have thought was the low-hanging fruit for this match.

Ripley again looked impressive overall, but her title reign has been saved by her Judgment Day segments, not by her in-ring opportunities.
