6 Ups And 6 Downs From Last Night's WWE Raw (August 26)
1. Braun Denied Again
There is a chance that this gets parlayed into the storyline between Braun Strowman and Seth Rollins, but on its own, this was frustrating.
We’ve seen Braun play the role of bridesmaid way too many times on Raw. Strowman has been on the main roster for four years now, and his accomplishments consist of two Raw Tag Team Championship reigns (one of which was a one-day run with a 10-year-old “fan” as his partner) and one Money in the Bank win (which he then failed in his cash-in). That’s really about it. (We’re not counting Greatest Royal Rumble because it basically was a glorified house show win that didn’t amount to anything after the PPV.)
Strowman has failed to win singles titles on too many occasions to count, and Monday became another, as he was disqualified for using a steel chair – on two men who interfered in the match on United States Champion AJ Styles’ behalf. The referee never saw Braun use the chair, but heard it, and saw Styles doing his best Eddie Guerrero impersonation, and DQ’d the challenger.
LAME.
And once again, we have to deal with Braun failing in a title match. Stop putting him in these matches if he isn’t going to win. Sooner or later, he’s got to win a singles title and not be screwed out of one.
