6 Ups And 6 Downs From Last Night's WWE Raw (July 8)

Bobby Lashley Rey Mysterio

There is absolutely nothing wrong with putting Bobby Lashley over strongly against an established wrestler to solidify his standing ahead of a PPV match against Braun Strowman.

But to have that established wrestler be a returning Rey Mysterio who had just issued an open challenge? Come on. Rey looked like a complete jobber there, which follows on the heels of him losing to Samoa Joe in a minute at WrestleMania 35, and then winning the United States Championship on a fluke rollup that the ref messed up.

It’s just very strange booking, especially if Lashley goes on to lose to Strowman. Mysterio typically rebounds OK from losses like this because of her perpetual underdog status, but this almost felt like overkill on his first night back.

Then again, maybe that was the point, so we’ll downplay the negative scoring on this one.
