6 Ups And 7 Downs From Last Night's WWE Raw (May 14)

3. Biggest Waste Of A Heel?

What is Baron Corbin’s purpose? That’s a semi-serious question.

Corbin is billed a serious threat, given multiple high-profile spots: he won the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal in his debut and won the men’s Money in the Bank ladder match last year. But he’s also squandered tons of opportunities. He failed at his MITB cash-in, and then John Cena squashed him.

The Lone Wolf has won exactly three PPV matches since 2017: his MITB victory, one over the Miz, and a win over AJ Styles for the United States Championship. He also has lost TV matches to Tye Dillinger, Sin Cara and No Way Jose since last fall.

It just feels like WWE doesn’t know whether to push Baron as a serious threat or just keep him lukewarm and heat him up when necessary. The problem is that unlike someone like Kevin Owens (who has been cooled off and heated up several times), Corbin isn’t stellar in the ring (he’s barely solid) and fans don’t really seem to care for him.

It’s just a confusing situation. We really wish WWE would figure out what they’re doing with him.
