6. Another Tag Team Screwjob

The old expression “s*** or get off the pot” could easily apply to WWE’s treatment of The Revival recently.

After increasingly stupid matches against Lucha House Party, The Revival seemed to be straightening out and being treated like a real tag team again. Two weeks ago, they had a Raw Tag Team Championship match, only to lose when Chad Gable pinned Scott Dawson, who wasn’t the legal man.

So they got a rematch Monday night, with tag team lumberjacks surrounding the ring. If you thought the lumberjacks were going to cost the match, you’d be wrong. Instead, Bobby Roode reversed a small package to allow Gable to pin Dawson – only Dawson had his foot on the rope the entire time, and the ref missed it.

So we now have a second tag title match ending with a screwy finish. This sometimes can work, but that’s usually when it’s the babyface tandem getting screwed over by the heels. This is just shoddy refereeing, which would necessitate a special referee or some other change. Either way, it was dumb – unless it’s leading to something bigger, which Raw’s track record doesn’t suggest.

Either pull the trigger on The Revival or don’t.
