6 Ups And 7 Downs From Last Night's WWE Raw (Jan 7)

4. Nia’s Painful Presence

Nia Jax should be a big, successful star in WWE. She’s huge, a Samoan, and related to The Rock. But apparently, none of Rocky’s better sports entertainment qualities have rubbed off on her.

Jax interrupted Ronda Rousey’s interview on Alexa Bliss’ new talk show asking for a rematch for a title match she lost last month. When Sasha Banks came out, Nia called herself “a 300.5-ounce Samoan,” which was bad enough on its own, but her entire mic work was so disappointing that this just defined it rather than being a blip.

Her match against Sasha Banks was painful, with Banks having to bounce off her like a pinball. That’s not to say that Banks is partly responsible for the disappointing match, but really, Jax just doesn’t look good in the ring most weeks.

It’s a shame, and really, you wish WWE would take her off TV for a while and shore her up, because putting her out there to fumble on the mic and stumble in the ring isn’t helping anyone. It’s tough to play up how “dominant” Jax is when she’s lost to half the women’s roster during the past several months.
