6 Ups And 7 Downs From Last Night's WWE Raw (Oct 14)

5. ‘Celebrities’ Add Nothing, Take Away Time

The WWE draft was clearly going to be the main storyline throughout Raw Monday night, with the announcers talking about it incessantly, Stephanie McMahon coming out six times to announce draft picks, and the draft panel popping up a few times to give hot takes.

But while that was going to eat up programming time, they didn’t need to waste another 5-10 minutes or so on bumpers featuring “analysis” from various “TV personalities” from USA and FOX. This gave us the likes of Jim Cramer, Al Roker, NHL and Premier League commentators, and Saturday Night Live’s Colin Jost and Michael Che weighing in on the draft. (At least Jost and Che had been involved in an angle at WrestleMania 35.)

It was celebrity reaction for the sake of celebrity reaction, but odds are most people didn’t recognize more than half of the people featured, making it a waste of time.
