6 Ups And 7 Downs From WWE Elimination Chamber 2019
7. Maybe Graves
Should Muzzle It
Look, we all know that wrestlers and announcers are playing
characters on TV and during PPVs, but when real life intervenes, maybe
discretion is the better case of valor.
In this case, Corey Graves is well known for his lecherous
drooling over Mandy Rose. It’s beyond creepy at this point, and he continued
his tongue-wagging Sunday night. The wrinkle to this was the revelation from
Graves’ wife in a since-deleted social media post about the announcer having an
affair with Carmella.
This isn’t a commentary on someone’s potential personal shortcomings
– Lord knows that no one is perfect – but given that, maybe he could have toned
it down for a night.
Worse, Michael Cole and Renee Young appeared to be hip to
the room and called him out. Cole paid an actual compliment to Rose by starting
off, “Despite the way Graves talks about Mandy Rose…” and Young flat-out told
him that his drooling makes people uncomfortable.
Again, these are all characters, but it was a bit uncomfortable. Find a new gear to this shtick.
